Online Casino Sucker Wagers — Part Two

  • Progressive side bets: Casino games such as Caribbean Stud Poker often have one of these. You typically place a bet ($1 is the normal amount) to try to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although huge jackpots like these are extremely tempting, they’re also particularly difficult to succeed. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to win this bet. Also, picture this- you play 20 hands and place the side wager each time. That’s $20 you could have used towards the actual game bet in place of a sucker wager. Just think about what you might have been able to win at a bet with better odds using that twenty dollars.
  • Single number wagers in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has just one. This takes the overall house edge from 2.63% with a single zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The one number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very big odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets alternately which have a much smaller house edge.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you bet on it, the casino edge can be a huge twenty-five percent. Yes, that isn’t a typo. Due to the large set of numbers you must pick, it isn’t advisable to gamble on Keno to often. A few times for fun, perhaps. But don’t waste all your cash on it or you’ll quickly discover yourself bankrupt.
